Museo Dabawenyo in cooperation with the Araw ng Dabaw 2009 ExeCom, Department of Tourism Xl, National Commission for the Culture and the Arts, and Kalinawa Art Foundation will hold the “DUHWOW: Traversing Politics and Empowering the Deputies of the Most Livable City” exhibit starting today, March 10, 2009, 2:00 PM, at the Nanay Soling’s Hall (Contemporary Gallery) of Museo Dabawenyo
The exhibit will showcase the highlights of the economic, social and political achievements of Davao City since its charter in March 1, 1937. It will feature photos, notes, tokens, trophies, memorabilia, and a diorama of the signing of the charter by President Manuel L. Quezon.
The exhibit’s opening program today will feature performances by Kaliwat Theater Collective. Museum acting administrative officer Orly Escarilla will deliver the welcome remarks while “Duhwow” project director Nestor T. Horfilla will give the exposition brief.
Museo Dabawenyo OIC director Patricia Melizza Ruivivar will deliver the “Museo Dabawenyo: One of Davao’s Fulfillment of a Noble Promises” message.
Ruivivar will later be joined by Horfilla, Councilor Susabel Reta, and Soledad “Nanay Soling” Duterte, who originally conceived the whole idea of Museo Dabawenyo in order for the city to showcase its rich history and cultural diversity, during the cutting of the ribbon to signify the exhibit’s official opening.
The exhibit is open to the public until April 8, 2009.
